Traversing through different dimensions, Alex must escape his former home whilst decoding the mystery about his apartment and the strange neighbors that inhabit it. Featuring classic point-and-click mechanics, numerous puzzles, and a bold comic art style, Almost My Floor delivers a quick thriller experience that may not necessarily reinvent the wheel, but it certainly promises a fun, otherworldly, and satisfying adventure.
4 What To Expect In Terms Of Story
As a self-described horror/mystery game, hardcore horror players may need to curb their expectations. Whilst delivering a supernatural, psychological, and thriller-horror experience, the game also doesn’t take itself too seriously and intensely compared to other titles within the genre such as Detention. The game follows 2 protagonists, Alex, and a Private Detective named Adam Trust, Alex is somewhat laid-back and attempts to make light of the situation by flirting with women and cracking jokes. POV will shift between Alex and Detective Trust, providing clues as to what’s happening.
Overall, the story is quite straightforward but it works. The second half of the game particularly shines as the story reaches its zenith, revealing character backgrounds that tie into the mysterious events happening within the game. The game also features several ambient tracks that serve the story. Whilst nothing truly incredible, it does its job well enough. Voice-overs are also present within the game but are typically reserved for the cutscenes. The game utilizes a graphic novel speech bubble approach to deliver exposition and the story, which fits in with the style.
3 Puzzle Mechanics
As a point-and-click title in which players need to interact with objects and click to maneuver the character, Almost My Floor fits the genre like a glove. The puzzles are strange and eldritch and present themselves as barriers for the player to overcome to progress to the next segment. The puzzles offer some variation. Most are simple whilst others are timed or require the player to do a quick time event. Players can sometimes die should they fail a puzzle, but that’s no problem as players will quickly spawn from the nearest save point.

Puzzles are straightforward as the game isn’t designed to be challenging. Most puzzles can be solved by clicking various things whilst others will require items that are found throughout the different levels. The best thing to note is that none of the puzzles within this game aren’t tedious or annoying to complete. In fact, some of them can be quite fun.
The game mostly utilizes a phone that the player can use to progress throughout the story. For example, a poster that can be interacted with within the game will display the numbers ‘666’. Players will only need to whip out their trusty mobile phone from their inventory and dial the number to move on to the next stage.
2 NPCs And Morality System
NPCs can be interacted with and provide some help in solving puzzles when players engage them. The game also introduces a sort of morality system as puzzles are resolved in 2 different ways.

Depending on the approach or resolution (which can be good or bad), Alex will converse with his inner angel and demon. Selecting the ‘better’ option can impact future events. Players will also note that the style of the game is akin to comic book strips (seen particularly in the cutscenes), featuring bold colors and heavy black outlines. This not only gives a more light-hearted touch to the game but gives the game its distinct charm.
1 Nabbing Those Achievements
The game contains 19 achievements that are quite easy to grab due to its short duration, which is perfect for achievement hunters looking to score another ‘perfect’ game. These achievements usually require the player to go through the game’s few branching pathways or to experience certain niche elements of the game. For the most part, they are extremely easy to attain and players can easily acquire all the game’s achievements by their 2nd or 3rd playthrough.
The game has 9 chapters which include a prologue and epilogue. Each chapter will have several achievements available for the player to nab. Some achievements are super easy to get, some include viewing the credits whilst others will need the player to sacrifice Adam (by pressing the big red button on the bomb) and restart from a save point.
Almost My Floor is available on most gaming platforms such as PC, Mac, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
