In the winter months, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can build Snowboys, the game’s term for snowmen. Snowboys provide a large snowflake once built, which is used for some of the better winter DIYs, giving players a reason to make one each day of the winter season. However, the process of building Snowboys is not as easy as one would think. Players can make their heads too big or too small, as only the perfect-sized ball will work. If players get the wrong head size, the Snowboy will not give them a large snowflake. It will also make a negative comment, which is the basis for the animation.

While players have shared tricks for building the snowmen, such as a simple Snowboy building chart, it seems like Redditor LuiLaj has struggled with building Snowboys in the past. Described as “winter trauma,” the player has been insulted enough for their building skills that they made an animation based on their Unperfect Snowboy. The animation begins with the player putting together the flawed Snowboy, with the head being too small for the body. The Snowboy quickly berates the player, complaining that they are too fat with an angry expression on their face.

While Snowboys cannot move by themselves in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the animation shows what would happen if they did. According to Redditor LuiLaj, a flawed Snowboy would be a nightmare to deal with, as it is seen shouting at them when they fail to build a card tower in their house. The next bit of the footage shows them in an alley with the Snowboy, with the player’s creation deeming them “worthless.” They then begin to cry as the clip comes to an end, with the player managing to include the noise from the crying reaction in the animation.

Details like the crying sound are present throughout the clip, as the Animal Crossing: New Horizons player includes small touches like the Bunny Day Wardrobe in the background of their scenes. The cartoony art style perfectly captures the game, as the player character and the villager houses look spot on. Another nice touch sees the Animal Crossing: New Horizons logo cleverly reworked to incorporate the Imperfect Snowboy text and the mean Snowboy’s face.

With over 15,000 upvotes, there has been a lot of love shown for this stellar Animal Crossing: New Horizons video. Based on all the praise and support, it seems like a lot of people have “winter trauma” due to their flawed Snowboys.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
