Exactly why pre-orders for Scarlet Nexus on next-gen consoles have gone live isn’t clear. It’s possible that pre-orders went up for the current generation version of the game, the PS4 and Xbox One version, and that the next-gen options were activated by accident. It’s also possible that Scarlet Nexus received approval to put up pre-orders. Xbox has already confirmed the game for the Xbox Series X, at the very least.

Scarlet Nexus was confirmed for the PS5, too, though it hasn’t been formally showcased on the console like it was on the Xbox Series X. However, Scarlet Nexus may have been planned to be shown during Sony’s PS5 game event that was originally scheduled for this last week. It was delayed and doesn’t have a current release date. However, if it had been revealed, pre-orders going live afterward would have made sense.
What makes the listing such an interesting event is that no other PS5 or Xbox Series X games have been listed for pre-order yet. Scarlet Nexus is unique in that regard. This means that either a mistake has been made or Bandai Namco received special accommodation to put up its listing for Scarlet Nexus.
There will eventually be a deluge of PS5 and Xbox Series X games going up for pre-order. That often happens during E3 as dozens of games are revealed for the first time. With no E3 this year, no central event to organize around, when those pre-orders will go live isn’t clear. They didn’t go live during the Xbox Series X event in May, for example. Perhaps they’re simply waiting for the PS5 event.
Regardless, both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X are launching this holiday season. They’ll have a ton of launch games coinciding with each console’s release. Pre-orders for those games are coming. Perhaps Scarlet Nexus’ listing means those pre-orders are coming sooner than may have been expected.
Scarlet Nexus releases soon on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
